Maynooth Matches — Community Guidelines and Safety

1. Adults only

Maynooth Matches is for people 18 or older. You do not need to be a Maynooth University student. Do not create an account if you are underage. Report any account you reasonably suspect belongs to a minor; never ask another member to send you identification documents.

2. Consent and respect

Respect boundaries, consent and decisions not to engage. Do not harass, threaten, stalk, intimidate, discriminate against or humiliate another person. Hate speech, impersonation, coercion, exploitation, fraud, spam and attempts to evade bans are prohibited.

Do not share another person's address, contact details, private photographs, intimate content or communications without authorization. Non-consensual intimate imagery, sexual exploitation and any sexual content involving minors are strictly prohibited.

3. Honest profiles and appropriate content

Use your own photographs or images you have permission to publish. Do not impersonate others, misrepresent your age or create misleading or fraudulent profiles. Public photos, bios and prompts are moderated before publication. Flagged content may be held for manual review.

4. Messaging and meeting safely

Never pressure someone to reply or meet. Keep early conversations on the platform, avoid sending money or financial credentials to a match, and be careful about sharing personal contact details. For in-person meetings, consider a public place, independent transport and telling someone you trust where you plan to be.

5. Block, report and unmatch

Use in-app controls to block, unmatch and report conduct or profiles. Include enough factual detail to allow review, but do not forward or redistribute suspected illegal exploitation material. Blocking restricts further contact through the platform, but cannot undo screenshots or content already seen.

If someone is in immediate danger in Ireland, call 112 or 999; use the appropriate emergency number elsewhere. Maynooth Matches does not provide emergency assistance.

6. Moderation, action and appeals

We may reject or remove content, restrict features, suspend or ban accounts, and preserve restricted incident records where justified. Decisions should be proportionate and subject to applicable user notice and appeal rights. Contact support@maynoothmatches.com to request a review when an in-app appeal option is unavailable.

We review reports and aim to respond promptly, with priority given to urgent safety risks. Serious suspected criminal activity may be referred to competent authorities where appropriate and lawful. Automated screening is complemented by manual review where necessary.

7. Campus Crush confidentiality

Campus Crush nominations are confidential and are not displayed as ordinary incoming Likes. A Mutual Crush may be revealed if two people independently nominate each other; the app may also produce an ordinary match through reciprocal interest without identifying the underlying private nomination.
